Accepting New Clients

For people who wonder why something still feels unresolved.

I work with kids, teens, and adults in Peabody and Melrose, MA navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and chronic pain. My clients have spent a lot of time in their heads trying to figure themselves out, and are still waiting for it to feel different.

Reach Out Does This Sound Like You?
Jessa Monroe, Somatic Counseling Intern in Peabody and Melrose, MA

You don't need to be in crisis to be here.

A lot of people who start therapy have been thinking about it for a while. They're not sure they're "bad enough" to need therapy, or they've tried it before and aren't convinced it will be different this time. Some have a clear sense of what's wrong. Others just know something feels off.

All of that is a completely reasonable place to start.

If you're unsure whether this is the right fit, the best thing to do is reach out. No commitment needed.

Reach Out

Recognizing the Pattern

You might recognize yourself in one of these descriptions:

Insight without integration

You understand your patterns. You can trace the anxiety back to where it started. And yet it keeps coming back. You've left sessions thinking: "that was helpful, but..."

A sharp inner critic

You manage everything on the surface. You're the capable one. But underneath, something has been building, and the environment you're in rewards you for continuing to push it down.

Chronic pain or fatigue

You deal with low energy, pain, migraines, or tension that flares up without clear cause. These physical symptoms often arrive when you've reached the limit of what you can hold.

Disconnection and numbness

You feel distant from your own life. Foggy. Like you're watching it from the outside. This is an understandable response to environments that have felt chronically overwhelming.

Burnout and perfectionism

You cycle between striving and collapse. Perfectionism, procrastination, and exhaustion take turns. It feels like your system is doing its best under impossible conditions.

Grief that hasn't lifted

Something happened... a loss, a rupture, a version of your life that didn't come to pass, and it's still too heavy.

The gap between knowing and feeling different

I'm Jessa, a counseling intern at Serenity Now Counseling in Peabody and Melrose, MA, working towards completion of my M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Merrimack College.

A lot of people think that going deeper means being overwhelmed by their emotions. In fact, the opposite tends to be true when done in a trauma-informed way. When we slow down and get curious about what your body already knows, the feelings that once felt threatening start to make sense. They've been trying to tell you something.

We can learn to listen together.

Therapy that works at the root

Therapy should do more than help you cope. I believe it can change the underlying emotional logic that has been running the show.

01

Somatic Awareness

We pay attention to what your body is holding, not just what your mind can articulate. Sensations, images, and deeper feelings are often where the real information lives.

02

Parts Work

Drawing on various approaches to parts work (Gestalt, IFS, etc.), we explore with curiosity rather than judgment. We try to understand the role each part plays in your life.

03

Memory Reconsolidation

Through the lens of coherence, we work to update the deep, unconscious beliefs your system formed long ago to keep you safe. What inner knowings are no longer serving you?

The practical stuff

Navigating the logistics of therapy shouldn't add to your stress. Serenity Now Counseling works with a range of insurance providers and payment methods so that when you're ready to start, the practical side is already handled.
